Baby Chicks

At the perfect time, right before Easter, we were invited over by Lily's Nursery Leader (teacher at church) to come and see her little baby chicks.

I always thought that you incubated eggs and watched them hatch into chicks. But there are also other ways. Apparently, you can order chicks online and have them shipped to you; already hatched and ready to go.

Like all animals that Lily sees up close, it takes her a long time to get comfortable and used to them. When she first saw the chicks, she tried to hold them and got a little anxious when they moved! But by the time we were about to leave, Lily had warmed up to the idea of these cute fuzzy little guys gals and pet them.

Marco, on the other hand, wanted to pick up the chicks and squeeze them like toys. Because of how cautious we had to be, we (thankfully) don't have any pictures of him killing the baby chickens. And he wasn't happy about it. He did not want to leave or say goodbye. Completely opposite from Lily, he loves animals and loves to chase them around and pet them until they have had enough.

We can't wait to come back and see the chickens grow over the next few months! Lily has promised to come and feed them and watch them lay eggs, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that promise.

Thanks Acosta's for being so unique and not only ordering chicks, but sharing them with my children. We are so grateful that you aren't just a great Nursery Leader, but that you're great friends!
