Eleven Months has been such a fun time. Even though you have been sick more than normal, you have been much more interactive and so fun to be around. My very favorite interaction with you was one afternoon I was trying to put you down for your nap and you started to cry because you didn't want to go down. It was just oh-so-cute that I couldn't help but laugh at you crying. As I was laughing, your cry turned into a laugh - and every single time you want to laugh, you try to recreate that moment - by whining and trying oh-so-hard to not smile as you want to laugh, but you want me to instigate it. This, was my favorite moment with you this month.
Some more of my other favorite moments are:
You getting food ALL. OVER. THE. FLOOR. Every time you eat. It's okay though - because I love you and you are so cute! I can't help but just be happy that you want to eat and try everything and how enthusiastic you are about some foods, and how much you hate others.
Sometimes we take two baths a day from how much food you get all over your face (especially when we eat blackberries). Bath time is not only my favorite (because I get to read for about 30 minutes every time you bathe) but your favorite as well.
(This is you just squealing with your doll and talking to yourself in the reflection).
Nap time has just gotten easier. If I would have known that all I had to do was wear you out beforehand, wrap you up tight, and feed you milk from a bottle - I would have done it weeks ago. But alas, at least you are getting into a nice schedule and it helps Mommy get so many more things done than she used to!
Mommy never gets to practice the piano anymore, because anytime she does, you want to help out. Also, you love playing the piano. At least three or four times a day you crawl on over to the piano, pull yourself up, and begin to play. I can't wait to put you in real lessons!
Speaking of the piano, you love to dance to its pre-recorded songs by yourself, or with Daddy. You just love your daddy and are so happy that you stay up a little later now so you can see him when he comes home from work.
One way to always calm you down, or distract you, is to open up Mommy's old baby-blanket. You crawl over, lay down and try to wrap yourself up. If you're tired, you want mommy to wrap you up, if you want to play, you wrap yourself up and want Mommy to pull you all over the apartment. But don't worry, I don't mind, I'm able to put a lot of things away and get a lot of things done.
You are such a silly girl and do the downward dog Yoga style. I think it is your pre-cursor to standing up on your own.
You still love to read. And pull all the books out and off of the shelves.
You still like to help out whenever possible. But this month you became really strong and you were able to lift up the whole box of goldfish and dump them out all over the floor. You face says guilty all over it.
... and you learned to open cabinets and drag everything out while Mommy is showering. It's amazing how much damage can be done in a matter of mere minutes.
We had a snow day in Winston-Salem, and Daddy was able to work from home. He set up shop in your bedroom and you just wanted to help him so badly that you snuck away from Mommy three separate times, and I found you just working away with Daddy.
Besides helping Daddy, you now LOVE to climb all over Mommy and give her cuddles. You want to lay on my neck and just hum. If I'm lucky I get lots of kisses to go along with the cuddles you give me.
Auntie Marin gave you a walker to help you walk. You love, love, love this walker - and she was right - it only took a week before you started to walk on your own. Given the choice of walking on your own or choosing the walker - you still opt for the walker.
There was a parkgroups play date - and you were so good. You sat still during story time. Even though the story wasn't capturing your attention, you were busy looking at all the other children sitting close to you.
You have this new crazy obsession with your doll. It has to go everywhere with you - including your crib, your bath, and even when you nurse. You talk and squeal to it all day long. I'm pretty sure when you grow up you are going to be a talker!
And my favorite...
you just love sitting in my lap and reading, eating, and playing.
I love you sweetheart! Thanks for a fabulous first year!
