October 2015 in Review

October was great.

MARCO
Marco became more and more mischievous...
...made it known that he likes to be held...
(Michal came up with the most ingenious way of "babysitting". He watches the soccer game on his phone via FaceTime while Babcia watches him back. Seriously?!?)
...became an incredible sleeper...
...we found out he loves cheese...
...tried out new hats for the fall in temperature...
...had his 9 month wellness checkup and was as happy as ever at the appointment...
...and continues to make us so, so happy!

LILY
Lily has become a voracious reader. She loves to read to each of her monsters, stuffed animals, and dolls. My favorite part is that she just explains what is happening through the pictures on each page, then turns the book to show the pictures to her array of animals sitting across from her.
Lily also had her first school photos taken. She has this new obsession with taking out her ponytails. No matter how many times I put them in, she finds a way to take them out. I only had to put her hair in a ponytail four times before her pictures. Most days I just let it go, but not on picture day.
She continues to show us her quirky personality by trying to emulate Mommy (taking pictures) and begs us to ride in Daddy's car with the windows down. She giggles and laughs the whole time the wind is rushing past her face.
One day Daddy surprised us all by picking up Lily from preschool, she was so happy she didn't want to let him go.
And Lily has also become quite intuitive and expressive lately. She cleverly made the stool into her own little private table. And she has taken it on herself to start dressing herself. I just love the flowered skirt with socks, sandals, striped shirt and puffy winter vest/coat on.
But even though she's becoming more creative and expressive, she still likes to cuddle with Mommy, Daddy, and Marco.
Can't you just see how she is trying to express herself in these photos?
When I was wearing my wig Lily kept telling me, "You pretty Mommy." And then one morning she stole my wig and put it on and declared, "I pretty Mommy. Lily beautiful."
I love her so much and can't imagine my crazy life without her.

LILY and MARCO
And as every month changes, it is so fun to watch the kids start playing more and more together. The more they play together the less I have to entertain them, but - I also have to monitor things very closely because Lily feels like it is her personal responsibility to now pick up Marco or drag him across the floor to where she wants to go. Most of the time Marco squeals in delight - other times, he is NOT happy about it and lets us ALL know!

Lily has turned into the very best helper. Sometimes, too much of a good helper, but if she's going to feed Marco - then hey! - I'll take full advantage of that!

This month we were excited to welcome in Autumn: the weather change, the beauty, warmer clothes, and activities we have never done before.

We did have a lot of the same usual activities:
Shopping

Playdates

Visiting Old Salem

Playing with Anna

Park groups Halloween Party

Ward Halloween Party

Marco's Doctor Appointment

And some new activities...

Like:

Baking Cookies

Exploring Movie Theaters

Going to the Lexington BBQ Festival

Preschool Halloween Party

And a slightly embarrassing note:
I may have broken my foot (actually my toe) on October 30th by a 2x4 dropping on it.

This was minutes after it happened, before it became so swollen and the whole half of my foot (and underside) of my foot turned purple.

October was fabulous! Thank you October for all the new things we were able to experience!
